this is also nice [see my other posts from earlier today if you are lacking context]
we have this system
x + y = 4
y + z = 6
x + y + z = 7
which means that x + y + y + z = 7 + y, which means y = 3, z = 3, x = 1 and the purple region is 3, 1, 3, 3.

Played this game in my Pre-Calc class today. I think it might be one of the best games I've made - they all had lots of fun AND it gave them lots of practice. jclevelandtran.com/2022/01/26/l... #iteachmath

One of the most important influences on my math education career is Cathy Fosnot.
I read and watched her stuff early in my dive into younger grades and it made such an impact. I still quote you Cathy! Thanks for amazing, ground breaking work.

I read a sad article today, which made me feel even stronger that we must get together and keep building and rebuilding our math and science. One math circle at a time, if necessary. #iTeachMath physicsworld.com/a/critics-de...
Integrating a polynomial one term at a time: raise each exponent by one, divide by the new exponent, and add C at the end. Here, the integral of 2x^3 - 5x + 4 gives x^4/2 - (5/2)x^2 + 4x + C.
Ok, I'm starting to feel happy about this. An edge sum of 2 can get you started with straightforward subtraction. But then my construction process leaves some room for small cycles that require an extra step. Here's another one with a target sum of 10.

I'm testing out board generation for this mode. I'm liking how this plays out. I was able to fill all but 7 hexes through simple subtraction. But now, there is a small triangular system to solve!

One of the topics in our current Stanford #mathCircle is #FermiEstimating. I love how this 2nd grader described estimating the leaves on a tree. #mtbos #iteachmath #mathisfun #mathiseverywhere
Does it differ by grade band (i.e. ES teachers are more resistant to the "role play" part than MS/HS teachers? Or the math feels "too easy" when it's grade 2 or below?)?
Does it differ by experience level of the teachers involved? Veteran vs novice vs mixed?
