We are presented with a female figure holding an open umbrella. The umbrella, rendered in a soft shade of pink, casts a gentle shadow over the woman, indicating a source of light from above. The figure herself is depicted in a full-length profile, gazing downward with an air of introspective calm. She is dressed in the fashion of the era, with a striped blouse adorned with a red ribbon and a multi-tiered skirt that conveys a sense of movement. The pastel color palette and the loose, flowing brushstrokes are characteristic of the Impressionist style, seeking to capture the transient effects of light and atmosphere. The background is minimalist and does not distract from the figure, allowing the observer to focus on the subtle interplay of light, shade, and texture that gives life to the subject. Overall, the artwork exudes an elegance and a tranquility that is emblematic of Bracquemond’s contributions to the Impressionist genre. This was her final painting. She quit painting due to her husband's jealousy. He was also an artist.
