@inyim.bsky.socialSeventy-five years later, Lucy still owns the room before the punchline lands.
@amhcosplays.bsky.socialToday is National I Love Lucy Day! On this day 75 years ago, CBS debuted what was considered a risk of a sit-com: a comedy featuring a Cuban lead man! But the female lead insisted that her real-life husband play her TV husband, and who could say no to Lucille Ball?
@horseynight9.bsky.socialIf my mom had a favorite show for when she moved to the US, it was I Love Lucy. I think her favorite episode was the chocolate factory one.
Because timeless classics deserve to be watched by lotsa generations.
@noozify.comLucille Ball and Desi Arnaz took a pay cut to film I Love Lucy in Hollywood, not live from New York, and kept ownership of every episode. That deal made the rerun a business.

@lahistory.bsky.social“As a situation comedy team, Miss Ball and her husband [Desi Arnaz] have a good chance to see their names on the country’s video screens for a long time to come,” columnist Hal Humphrey.

@horseynight9.bsky.socialHappiest National I Love Lucy Day!
75 years! Obviously, one of my favorite shows growing up. I mean look what she did in the ballet class here. 🤣🤪
@donuteater111.bsky.social#ILoveLucy - The Fur Coat
Another fun episode. Admittedly, Lucy does stand out here as a bit selfish, but a lot of the humor works out well IMO. I particularly like the part with the robber that Ricky things is Fred. The end with the fake coat was funny as well.
@parademag.bsky.social#ILoveLucy premiered on this day 75 years ago. Do you have a favorite moment from Lucille Ball's portrayal of Lucy Ricardo?

@donuteater111.bsky.social#ILoveLucy - Men Are Messy
I thought the first half was better than the second here, although it was still funny later on. The early conflict was funny, and I like how it escalates to the division of the apartment. And nice use of Fred and Ethel to play off of the main couple.
@donuteater111.bsky.social#ILoveLucy - The Seance
A fun take on the obsession on numerology, horoscopes, and other mystical stuff. The dynamic between Lucy and Ricky works well here, and I like how it all escalates. Not as laugh-out-loud as others, but still really funny and clever overall.
@donuteater111.bsky.social#ILoveLucy - The Audition
Nice refinement of the story from the pilot. Again, Lucille Ball does really well showing her comedic acting in the performance scene. Not as strong as a few previous episodes, but really fun overall.
@donuteater111.bsky.social#ILoveLucy - Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her
Another really funny episode. I like the setup of Lucy getting really into the murder mystery book, including the running gag of getting shocked out of it. Great use of Lucy's dynamics with Ricky and Ethel here.
