#IDGC2026 | Child marriage is illegal in Fiji. The Marriage Act, as amended in 2009, sets the legal age of marriage at 18.
Yet according to the 2021 MICS by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, 9 percent of women aged 20 to 49 were first married or in union before they turned 18.
