HPPA's Mariana captured this elegant image, framed by branches, of the first bird she spotted at Hawaiʻi Volcanoes NP after we hired her just recently. She said she was excited, even though the white-eye is a non-native bird. As she said: it's still a cutie!

In the weeks ahead, park rangers and the Hawai‘i Pacific Parks Association staff will transition from the temporary Welcome Center at Kilauea Military Camp back to the renovated Kīlauea Visitor Center.

The Holei Sea Arch had been showing signs of instability for years. In 2022, large surf from Tropical Storm Darby took a chunk of the natural sea arch and park rangers warned it could collapse at any time.

Lava fountains may resume or lower-level activity may stay within the summit vent system.
