What about “Joy and Pain,” you ask? That’s the head-scratcher: “Joy and Pain,” reworking the Maze featuring Frankie Beverly classic, stalled out at #58 on the #Billboard #Hot100 in 1989. It did better on the R&B (#11), #9 Dance (#9) & Rap (#5) charts, though. #OneHitWondered #MusicSky

The platinum-selling ‘It Takes Two’ LP also gave us “Get on the Dance Floor.” The single hit #1 on Billboard’s dance chart & #11 on the R&B chart. That mix of rap, funk samples & dance beats kept clubs bumpin’, but somehow never crossed over onto the #Hot100. #OneHitWondered #MusicSky

Trapt's story shows how different Billboard's rock charts could be from their #Hot100 chart… Throughout the ‘00s, they had multiple major rock-radio hits, including three #1 singles on Mainstream Rock. But only “Headstrong” crossed over onto the Hot 100's #Top40. #Trapt #OneHitWondered

In a way it’s too bad Kendrick Lamar didn’t reissue an album this week (um…bonus tracks on GNX?) cuz then all 4 of the titans of the #Hot100 would be dominating the #Billboard200 simultaneously. The Beatles, Drake, Taylor + Kendrick are, to date, the only 4 acts to lock down the #Hot100 Top 5. [2/2]

In America, Interphon chose “I Can’t Stop” as The Honeycombs’ follow-up single… Its pounding beat and urgent vocals carried on the excitement of “Have I the Right?” and reached #48 in early 1965. It was their only other single to chart on the US #Billboard #Hot100. #OneHitWondered #MusicSky

Gordon MacRae is a perfect example of why US #OneHitWonder honors sometimes need an asterisk... Yeah, he was a star before #Billboard created the #Hot100… but, technically, still a one-hit wonder during the #Hot100 era. #GordonMacRae #OneHitWondered

A one-hit wonder? Well, sort of… Gordon MacRae was already a major entertainment figure long before the #Billboard #Hot100 era. The dude worked in radio, records, Broadway/film, and was one of the most recognizable traditional-pop singers of the late 1940s & ’50s. #GordonMacRae #OneHitWondered
