Emergency services are now away from the railway and we are carrying out final preparations to re-open the line. We expect this to happen within the next 25-30 minutes

I always assumed this #warmemorial was for the Great War, when in fact it’s The Boer War (1899 - 1902). Interesting how many local #HerneBay lads ended up serving in African regiments. Also, the unfortunate fate of Mr Griggs in a rather bizarre accident.
