“Don’t tell anyone I did that.” Lucifer said, with a tone that would have needed more indignation to it to properly sound believable. “That was embarrassing.”
“Don’t tell anyone I liked it.” Was Alastor’s response, after a few seconds of what very few people would notice as hesitation. Then, the two of them simply stared at each other, judging by the blessed silence which followed. A shame it didn’t last, because both of them were going to remember they weren’t alone sooner or later.
If only it had been later, at least. Husk barely had time to savor the calm before it was gone. And all eyes were on him now.
“You,” Alastor was already saying as he turned down to properly face those two… all while trying to contain a sigh and barely failing at it. “better not say anything about this either, alright?”
“Please?” Lucifer shortly added and, to his credit, he sounded more inconvenienced than unsure with that half-assed question.
He wasn’t paid enough to deal with that shit. He wasn’t paid, period.

“You can quit the ‘good cop, bad cop’ pantomime, ‘cause I don’t even know what the fuck you’re talking about.” And that wasn’t just him trying to bluff; Husk might have a small penchant for gossip every now and then, but with that pair? No way, he just tuned them out for his own sanity’s sake. More so since they had become sort of drinking buddies, therefore getting him a front row seat to witness their antics he very much didn’t want. “I ain’t snooping on others when I’ve got a dirty glass pile to take care of that’s taller than Niff.”
That was how he earned himself around thirty seconds more of peace to turn back again and return to something actually productive-- unluckily, not without having to endure more of whatever that was before managing to hear without listening once more. Or try to.

“And we just… believe him?”
“That’s the idea, your majesty, yes.”
“And how do you know that he’ll keep his word, huh?”
“Many years of knowing each other, why?”
Alright, time to take a well-deserved break lest Husk ended up losing his mind. And he would drop a bomb before leaving, just as a small gratification for all the trouble.
“No reason you’d need to be jealous for, sir, though.”
Just as expected, hell broke loose (pun very intended) as he took his leave.

When Vaggie let out a brief gasp as Charlie jumped to the sofa from behind to join her there, she evidently knew her girlfriend had done so to indulge her; there was absolutely no way she, whose biggest attempts at stealth growing up were trying to sneak cookies away from the kitchen at midnight could ever caught her military-trained girlfriend off-guard.
Sure, Vaggie had been relaxing more and more through the years, but becoming undetectable to her ear was something else entirely.
“What are you doing?” Charlie asked, scooting closer and resting her head over Vaggie’s shoulder, all while taking in the scene before her. Over the other’s lap there was one of their picture albums-- specifically, the first they had started together; she could recognize it anywhere.
“Thinking about when we met.” Vaggie answered, poking a specific picture featuring the two of them.
In that one, it had been around six months since they met, going on seven. Vaggie’s hair was still pretty short and she was experimenting with hairclips before picking up her characteristic bow a bit later on, and one could see in her eyes she wasn’t still used to life in Hell if they knew where to look.

Charlie, though, had known even then. Even before being aware of her girlfriend’s true origins at the moment.
And now…
“Do you miss it, by the way? Up there?” Her question was more curious than anything, and Charlie wouldn’t judge her if the answer was a yes: she would definitely miss the place she had lived all her life if the roles were reversed.
Before replying, Vaggie entwined her hands together, tracing circles in the back of Charlie’s with her thumb.
“Not that much these days. Besides…” And she could notice the smooth grin on Vaggie’s face even when they were both looking in the same direction rather than each other. “I’ve found my Eden here, with the woman of my dreams.”
For an answer, Charlie raised her head in record time to kiss her.
