@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialThere’s a really great documentary about her, called, “When Mountains Tremble.”
Highly recommend watching should you get the chance. She’s an absolute rockstar.
It also puts Reagan’s fuckery in Central & SouthAmerica during the 1980’s into stark relief too.

@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialThey are NO DIFFERENT (if anything, they’re WORSE) than noted Russian spies like Aldrich Ames, or Robert Hansson.
The latter story of which, BTW, is very well told in the film “Breach,” starring Ryan Phillipe, Chris Cooper, Dennis Haysbert, and the magnificent Laura Linney.

@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialThe great Barbara Streisand explaining to the lovely Robert Rodriguez (one of my friends worked with him – nice man), what it was like to direct the great Lauren Bacall, & how she captured natural reactions that went beyond the script. This is the diff good directing makes.

@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialBTW, thanks in part to the Yandex Data center destruction, the #Musk documentary is now apparently trending on #BadTwitter™, which has to have Elon pulling his hair plugs out by the fistful.
Happy Monday!! 🤣

@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialThe people going to the 8pm showing of “Musk” REALLY hate him.
A 4-hour show starting then? Yikes. You gotta be COMMITTED.

@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialThis must be said in the accent of a Swiss hotel concierge, as in “Pink Panther Strikes Again.”
Clouseau: “I thought you said your dog does not bite?!”
Concierge: “Zat iss not my dog.”
@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialThis is an extraordinary cast of actors. I have the feeling this will emotionally shred me, and yet, I will delight in the process.

@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialYo, #LIGHTING.
It doesn’t just frame her face & eyes at exactly the correct moment, it also catches the smoke from her cigarette and draws your eyes back up to Burt Lancaster’s gaze.
For real, this is a textbook lesson in how to use lighting to pull visual focus.

@swirlosquirrel.bsky.socialJust watched good ‘ole Walter in “Hello Dolly” recently as well. Love that grumpy/ultimately kind AF dude. One of the greats.
