@newbreen.bsky.socialI saw a new restoration of #GONEwiththeWIND, & it never looked as good. While it must be viewed as a period piece (about the #AnteBellumSOUTH as well as 1939 views on #Race, #Sex & #Morality ) it stands alone as the greatest masterpiece of #Hollywood s #GoldenAge.
@mankabros.bsky.socialThis Date In Manka Bros History - Oct 13, 1936:
Studio head Khan Manka lost the film rights to ‘Gone with the Wind’ to David O. Selznick after betting Selznick that he could bench-press 300 lbs. He couldn’t.

@pitterpats.bsky.socialI saw #GoneWithTheWind on the big screen today. My favorite line still remains Clark Gable saying to Vivien Leigh: "You should be kissed, often. And by somebody who knows how." Always makes me smile.

@laylabelle97.bsky.socialThis is why I find Gone With The Wind so fascinating as someone who’s never understood the romanticism surrounding the lost cause. It’s a brilliant piece of propaganda, ala Starship Troopers or the cultists in Midsommar #gonewiththewind #starshiptroopers #midsommar
