This was our first time seeing #oldfaithful #geyser in person and our first time to #yellowstonenationalpark.  It was a cold gray morning around a Memorial Day.  Still, an incredible visit to #yellowstone.  Can't get enough of #wyoming!!!

In 1937, a drilling project to access warm water from the hot springs aquifer for a swimming pool encountered an underground chamber, resulting in a 100 foot (30m) geyser. The geyser was capped and is now controlled via timer, erupting every hour on the hour. #Geology #History #Geyser #Whoops
