An astounding ⚒️🧪 achievement - a new #metamorphic map of Australia by Ben Goscombe, published by #GeoscienceAustralia. 3490 million years of metamorphism, 841 pages, 343 figures, 113 maps. I'm not a metamorphic practitioner, but this is mind blowing science!

Geological map of Australia showing metamorphic facies and pressure–temperature series across major geological provinces and cratons. Coloured areas represent low-temperature, low-pressure, medium-pressure, high-pressure and very high-pressure metamorphic facies, with detailed colour-coded legends around the map. Major regions labelled include the Western Australian, Northern Australian and Southern Australian cratons, the Tasmanides of eastern Australia, and the Pilbara, Yilgarn and Gawler cratons. Numerous smaller provinces and orogens are identified, including Pine Creek, Tanami, Tennant Creek, Aileron, Musgrave, Mount Isa, Thomson, Lachlan and New England. Metamorphic belts are concentrated around craton margins and through eastern Australia, while large interior areas contain comparatively little mapped metamorphic facies information. An inset at lower right shows Macquarie Island.Composite petrogenetic grid & diagnostic mineral fields for typical pelite compositions. Pressure–temperature diagram mapping stability fields of metamorphic facies and mineral assemblages across temperature (°C), pressure (kb) and depth (km), with colored labeled regions (VLP–VHP, LP, HP, MP) and white lines for common geothermal gradients (5–120 °C/km).

Yeah, felt a few oscillations lateral shiftiness in that earthquake.

Geoscience Australia reports the earthquake was magnitude 4.8, at a depth of 10km, and centred near Leongatha.

It's cropped to show just a map of southern and central Victoria and some of the sea off to the south. Melbourne is roughly in the middle of the map. There's also a large red dot to indicate the location of the earthquake. It appears the earthquake was centred near the town of Leongatha in Gippsland, 135 kilometres south-east of Melbourne.
