The extreme 'warmth' over western Siberia and extending into the Kara Sea has been extremely persistent for the last few months. September continued with this widespread anomaly, exceeding 5°C above the 1981-2010 average. Data from @copernicusecmwf.bsky.social ERA5 reanalysis.

#Solar und #Wind legten 2025 weltweit um rund 18 % zu. Zugleich erreichte der Verbrauch von #Kohle, #Öl und #Gas neue Rekorde. Die #Energiewende wächst – aber sie muss fossile Energien endlich verdrängen, statt nur den zusätzlichen Bedarf zu decken. Mit einer Politik wie von #Reiche ist das schwer!

EU gas storage reached 74.1% on Wednesday 14 October (838 TWh), up 1.0 points over the week.
A year ago the tanks were 83.0% full.
Hitting 90% by 1 November takes 0.88 points a day, against 0.14 a day lately.
Largest stocks: 🇮🇹 IT 182 TWh, 🇩🇪 DE 148 TWh and 🇺🇦 UA 119 TWh.

Breaking News! Code UFB!!! As of October 13, Antarctic sea-ice extent is more than 5.0 standard deviations below the 1991-2020 daily average. Under "normal" circumstances, the likelihood of this happening just by chance would be about 1-in-5,800,000.
