Elise Arts and Crafts

She has been enjoying life in Key West and the Florida Keys, where they’ve been busy making Fused Glass Jewelry for some time.
#FusedGlass #Jewelry #ArtsAndCrafts #keywest #FloridaKeys

Elise, a talented crafter from Key West, shares her latest creations of "Fused Glass Jewelry" which is part of her arts and crafts collection in the beautiful Florida Keys. A woman stands behind a table displaying handcrafted local art. The table is covered with small glass pieces, some of which are arranged in rings. The woman is wearing a black tank top with a yellow sunflower on it and sunglasses. She is smiling and looks friendly. The table is set up in a public square, with other people walking around in the background. The sign above the table reads "Handcrafted Local Art". The scene is bright and inviting, suggesting that the woman is selling her art to passersby.The image displays a close-up, centered shot of a necklace on a wooden bust. The bust, representing the neck and upper chest of a person, is made of light-colored wood with a prominent, natural grain pattern. It is shaped to hold a necklace.

The necklace itself consists of a thin, rigid, silver-colored wire that forms a choker around the bust's neck. Hanging from the center of this choker is a pendant. The pendant is a square-shaped, white opaque glass or resin piece. Embedded within the white square is a black paw print, which is clearly defined with four circular toe pads and a larger, heart-shaped heel pad. The paw print is slightly raised from the white background, giving it a subtle three-dimensional quality.

The background is dark and appears to be composed of two distinct textures. The upper portion of the background is a dark brown, possibly a wooden wall or paneling, with a slightly textured surface. The lower portion of the background features a woven mat or fabric in muted tones of beige and brown, creating a natural and earthy contrast to the polished wood of the bust and the smooth pendant.

The lighting appears to be soft and diffused, coming from the front and slightly from above, casting gentle shadows that highlight the textures of the wood grain and the woven mat. The composition is focused entirely on the necklace and the display bust, with no other objects or distractions present. The overall color palette is warm and neutral, dominated by shades of wood, white, black, silver, and muted earth tones. The image has a clean and uncluttered aesthetic, suggesting it might be used for product display or marketing.
Meet Elise, a Key West artisan who reveals her wonderful pieces of "Fused Glass Jewelry" which is included in her arts and crafts collection from the stunning Florida Keys. A silver chain necklace with a circular, blue pendant. The pendant features a white swirl design, resembling an eye. The necklace is photographed against a white background. The pendant is a symbol of protection and good luck, often referred to as the "evil eye."
A necklace is displayed against a plain, light gray background. The necklace consists of a thin, flexible, dark gray wire that forms an oval shape, suggesting it is either a choker or a very short necklace. At the bottom center of the oval wire, a pendant is suspended. The pendant is a small, roughly square charm with rounded corners. The charm appears to be made of glass and has a layered design. The outer layer is a translucent, light green glass that has an irregular, slightly wavy edge. Encased within this green glass is a square of opaque white glass. On top of the white glass, a dark green, stylized turtle figure is fused. The turtle has a rounded shell and four stubby legs and a head extending outwards. The turtle is centrally placed on the white square, creating a distinct visual focal point. The metal bail connecting the pendant to the wire is a small, silver-toned piece. The lighting is even, casting minimal shadows and highlighting the glossy texture of the glass pendant. The composition is simple and centered, focusing solely on the jewelry.

Blue Crab Plate / Fused Glass / frit paintings

Donna Coffin, a skilled artist, has created a remarkable piece of art titled "Blue Crab Plate / Fused Glass / frit paintings" which highlights the beauty of Key West and the Florida Keys. The vibrant hues and intricate details in this artwork wonderfully embody the essence and charm of the area. This is a circular glass plate with a black metal stand. The plate features three blue crabs painted on it with green and orange details. The crabs are facing different directions and are arranged in a circle. The background of the plate is a light blue with white dots. The plate is a beautiful piece of art and would be a great addition to any home.This is a close-up, horizontal, eye-level shot of a fused glass art piece depicting a vibrantly colored fish in an underwater scene. The fish is the central and dominant element, rendered in shades of fiery orange, deep brown, and speckled with white and bright blue glass. The blue spots are particularly striking, shimmering as if they were iridescent scales. The fish has a prominent blue eye with a black pupil, and its mouth is slightly open. Black outlines define the fish's fins and details, adding a graphic quality to the organic forms.

The background is a textured, light gray or off-white, with abstract grey shapes resembling leaves or debris floating in the water. In the foreground and to the right of the fish, there are vertical, wavy streaks of bright, translucent yellow-green glass, representing aquatic plants or algae. Scattered across the bottom of the piece are small, granular flecks of blue and green glass, suggesting pebbles or bubbles on the seabed.

The composition is dynamic, with the fish positioned facing to the right, its tail fin fanning out towards the left. The artwork is enclosed in a clear glass panel, and the image shows it mounted with four small, silver screws or rivets in each corner, attached to a white backing or frame. The signature "D. Coffm" is visible in the bottom right corner in black ink. The overall impression is one of lively aquatic movement and rich, textural detail.Under the Mangrove trees / Fused Glass / frit paintings

Donna Coffin, an exceptionally skilled artist, has vividly depicted the breathtaking charm of Key West and the Florida Keys in her artwork "Under the Mangrove trees / Fused Glass / frit paintings" The painting’s striking palette and intricate craftsmanship showcase the unique beauty and vibrant spirit of this stunning region. This is a glass artwork depicting a mangrove tree reaching over a body of water. The tree's branches are drawn in black ink, and its leaves are a vibrant green. The roots of the tree extend into the water, which transitions from a deep blue to a turquoise green. A single fish swims near the bottom of the image, its outline also drawn in black ink. The artist has used various glass textures to create a sense of depth and movement in the artwork. The water is textured with tiny glass particles, giving it a shimmering effect. The fish is also textured, creating a sense of its scales. The overall effect is one of tranquility and beauty, capturing the essence of a coastal scene.This is a close-up, portrait-oriented image of fused glass art depicting blue and white flowers with green leaves. The artwork is framed by a clear glass panel, held together by four silver screw-like fasteners at each corner. The background of the artwork is a light gray, textured surface that resembles marbled paper or a stucco finish, with scattered small flecks of green, yellow, and white.

The main subjects are clusters of small, delicate flowers, primarily in shades of bright blue and white. These flowers are arranged in vertical sprigs, appearing as if growing upwards. Each flower is composed of multiple small, rounded glass pieces that create a sense of volume and texture. The blue flowers vary from a deep, rich cobalt blue to lighter shades of periwinkle. The white pieces are interspersed, adding contrast and depth. Many of the flower clusters have tiny, golden-brown beads or dots in their centers, representing the stamen or pistils.

Interspersed among the flowers are several branches and numerous leaves rendered in various shades of green. The leaves are elongated and have a slightly pointed tip. They are depicted with black outlines, giving them a defined, almost illustrative quality. The green glass used for the leaves has a glossy finish and some subtle variations in color, including lighter green highlights and darker green undertones, and some show hints of teal. The leaves are arranged in a way that suggests natural growth, with some overlapping and others extending outwards.

The overall composition is organic and dynamic. The flowers and leaves are not perfectly symmetrical but rather follow the natural flow of plant growth. The artwork is arranged to fill most of the rectangular glass panel, with the bottom edge of the composition being the widest. The texture of the background and the multi-dimensional nature of the fused glass create a visually engaging piece. In the bottom right corner, there is a faint signature in what appears to be black in…

The sauce dishes after the full fuse - slumping them started today.

Really like them!!

#FusedGlass

The dishes from the last post after the full fuse. There are 4 of them.

They are all 3x3 inches. From left to right, top to bottom:

1. There are blue and green aventurine (sparkly) corners and in the center is a clear square.

2. There are a 1 inch wide blue and green aventurine (sparkly) strips and in the center is a clear strip.

3. There are blue and green aventurine (sparkly) borders and in the center of the borders is clear square.

4. There are blue and green aventurine (sparkly) corners - one big and one small of each color, and in the center is a clear rectangle.

The answer to "will it wreath?" is YES!

I am so tickled with the fact that it worked - I put two more in today. More green in them and a little denser.

The transparent red also worked really well!

#FusedGlass

The fired fused glass wreath from the last post. It is layers of coarse frit (ground glass.) There is clear frit, then aventurine (sparkly) green, and then a few bits of red and iridescent clear glass. The tack fuse (low temp) got everything well stuck together and smoothed out the sharp bits, but it still has a delightfully bumpy texture.

The dot votive came out so nicely, too!

#FusedGlass

A fired votive candle holder.

It started as an unfired piece of 5.5 by 5.5 inch clear glass, covered with glass "dots" that I made. The dots are various shades of blues and clear glass that has a stripey effect. In the center, there was a blank area about 2 inches in diameter.

It was tack fused to get all the dots fused to the clear glass, then placed on top of a stainless steel cup and slump fused so that the corners slump down arund the cup and it will now hold a votive candle.

The puddle is VERY red - and I'm not even mad. Once I bust it up, the clear layers should look very cool and the yellow may decide to make itself known.

#FusedGlass

The stack of the 7 pieces of glass from the previous post. It has gone into a full fuse and is very red and shiny and will be broken up and refired into cabochons.

Here are the rest of the sauce dishes, just going with clear insets vs the frit.

#FusedGlass

A 3x3 inch stack of unfused glass. It has 3 layers. The top and bottom layers are 2 millimeter thick clear glass. In the center layer, there are blue and green aventurine (sparkly) corners and in the center is a clear square.

It will get a full (high temp) fuse and then slumped into a mold to make it a small sauce dish.A 3x3 inch stack of unfused glass. It has 3 layers. The colors for the sauce dishes is great, the frit insert went sideways and there is a bubble. This is why I just did the one to start.

May still slump it and keep it as a ring dish or something.

It had a full (high temp) and is very sparkly, but there is a bubble in the center where there was either too much or not enough frit.

And the last one that I forgot to post when it was finished - it came out so nicely!

#FusedGlass

The 6 x 6 inch sheet of fired glass ribbons from the prior posts. It was placed over a stainless steel mold and a slump (lower temp) firing was done - the edges bend down in the firing and now it is a votive candle holder.
@cafechatnoir.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gySep 20, 2026, 9:31 PM

Oh, it came out of the slump and I never posted it - I went with a somewhat shallow mold, and I like the simplicity of how it came out.

#FusedGlass

The fired and slumped frit stretch from the previous posts. It’s an 8 inch circle and mostly clear, and the pink, blue, and white frit is in clusters and blobs around the edges, and then the frit stretches out towards the center of the circle, and looks a bit like an exploding firework. It slumped into a simple, shallow bowl.
@cafechatnoir.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gySep 20, 2026, 9:29 PM

Also found some gorgeous red-yellow streaky glass in the class store - they only had a half sheet, which they normally don't cut down to 10x10s for class, but it can still be used as part of the allotment - so I have a lot of it, LOL.

Starting with some puddles.

#FusedGlass

An unfired sheet of glass. It is a red-yellow "streaky" glass - unfired it looks mostly orange, but it will "strike" on firing and be red and yellow.A stack of 7 pieces of glass, each 3 by 3 inches. It alternates between the red-yellow streaky glass in the prior photo and clear glass. It will get a full (hi temp) fuse and then will be broken up and refired into cabochons.
@cafechatnoir.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gySep 20, 2026, 9:19 PM

The dot votive also went in for a slump fuse - this is the before if you didn't see it.
