Freestyle understood heartbreak. Why suffer quietly when a drum machine can announce your terrible romantic decisions to the entire neighborhood?

One of freestyle’s foundational records, fronted by John Rocca, who also holds a less enviable distinction: the biggest asshole I met among all the freestyle acts I worked with as a DJ.

I'm absolutely in love with Patti Day's album "Love Crazy" (1989). It is the perfect mix of dance, pop and freestyle music, featuring the singles "Right Before My Eyes", "Inch By Inch", "Drive Me" and "No One". Produced by Michael Zager.

I'm listening to Alta Dustin's lovely dance-pop album "Shoulda Known Better" (1991). It includes the single "Lookin' For Love" and I added her 1989 freestyle masterpiece "Tonite" (from the promo CD single) as a bonus track.

Some hearts learn from experience. Monet’s keeps handing heartbreak another set of keys. Fortunately, the beat has much better judgment.

I absolutely love Shana's album "I Want You" (1989). The whole album is great, but my favourites are "I Want You", "I'd Do Anything For Your Love", "You Can't Get Away" and "All Of Me".

"Sequal" (1988) by Sequal (Angie Vollaro and Maria Christensen) is the perfect freestyle/dance-pop album including singles "Tell The Truth", "Tell Him I Called", "I'm Over You".

I highly recommend the 2012 reissue: discogs.com/release/4133...
