TOMATOES!
THIS LOT have been simmered *for hours* very low to reduce them to paste. Cut out the seeds, sieved the juice back in, left the skins in & pulverised the resultant almost-paste.
Gonna let it cool and I should have a couple of jars of puree for cooking.

SO HERE WE ARE, mid-spooky season, and still harvesting tomatoes.
This lot are destined for tomato puree.
And we still have enough of them to eat.
Those dark patches are the natural colouring of the fruit. These pics don't really do them justice.

I AM BEREFT
This unassuming saucepan full is my oven baked onion garlic and tomato soup.
Bcos I am a lazy cook, I didn't blend b4 freezing & consequently defrosted the portion with a full garlic bulb.
JACKPOT!
Cept I can't taste or smell it cos...full of cold.

HAVING TRIED tried a few flatbread recipes over the years, including sourdough, I think I have found The One for general flatbreads and wraps.
Flour, small bit of oil (or butter), buttermilk, salt n pepper. I put fennel seeds in it.

TRYING MY HAND at pasta again. It's strangely satisfying.
Instead of my usual ribbon pasta, I'm being Bold & having a go at shapes. Not going too badly. Bowties need some work. Offcuts can be used as random shaped pasta.

More importantly, my freezer is choc-full. No room for sliced bread.

I CAN Report that the loaf cut beautifully & tastes v malty. It'll make gd toast.
The pasta was lush, was gonna do spaghetti but this was easier.
The frozen tomato mix in the spag bol really made a difference & was much tastier than tinned.

NOT BAD, if I do say so myself! It's got quite a lot of malty multigrain flour in it and mixed seeds.

Bread nearly ready to bake and tomato relish on the hob. Chopped a couple of red onions into it. ACV, white wine vin and a couple of tablespoons of balsamic. Seasoning but no sugar yet. Will cook it down first and see what, it's like.
