Most of the time, characters come first, and I build the world to them. In my piece for #FirstDraftFall, the world came first, which was very exciting for me. I don't have everything figured out, but it feels like it has depth.

For Green Mountain Girl, it was a town my friends helped me build around an idea I've always wanted to write (a holiday romance set in Vermont written by an actual Vermonter)

Once the town sprang to life it informed so much of the story.
