Perus Wine Company Janeen Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, Napa Valley, California It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Inky in color with a short purple rim. Strong and complex nose and full bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and very fruity on the palate with great complexity. Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, toast, light vanilla, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, earth, mediterranean spices, black tea and herbs. Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries. This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Still young, but already delicious and extremely approachable. Rich and extracted, soft and smooth. Elegant and nicely balanced, expressive and powerful. A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels for 20 months. A small production of less than 1,500 bottles. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 94 points. $235.

This 5 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder in Napa Valley is drinking beautifully already, although needs a few years to reach its peak. Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Rich and extracted, yet elegant. Fruit forward and engaging. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Showing good potential to become a 95 point wine. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with a nice piece of steak. A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot, 1% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. 15.1% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $90.

Ghost Block Estates Bonded Winery No. 9 Proprietary Red 2019, Napa Valley, California Inky in color with a wide reddish rim. Fruity nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, chocolates, tobacco, licorice, cedar, black pepper and herbs. Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with blackberries, black cherries, cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, earth and light espresso. Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries. This is a gorgeous Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Elegant and nicely balanced, complex and entertaining. Rich and fruit forward. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime. This 7 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based blend is starting to drink beautifully now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. A great sipping wine that will also pair very nicely with a big piece of steak. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Malbec and 20% Petit Verdot. A tiny production of only 6 barrels made. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 94 points. $250.

Pretty nose of red and black fruits with oak, chocolates, spices, herbs and black pepper. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cherries, spices, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, peppercorn and tobacco leaf. Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This young Napa Cabernet from Rutherford is drinking beautifully already. Fruit forward and elegant, soft and smooth. Nicely balanced and complex, tangy and spicy. Very approachable right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours in the decanter. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Showing good potential to become a 94 point wine. A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. Grapes were aged for 19 months in (60% new) French Oak barrels. A small production of only 3,144 bottles. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $185.

Dry on the palate with blueberries, plums, cooked cherries, light oak, tobacco leaf, chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, licorice, light earth, eucalyptus, bitter herbs and black tea. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a beautiful Merlot from Saint Emilion. Rich and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and elegant. Soft and smooth, spicy and entertaining. This 9 year old still feels young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Robert Parker 96 points. Wine Spectator 94 points. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. A blend of 77% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Franc. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This 22 year old Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley is drinking beautifully now. Rich and fruit forward, very complex and entertaining. A fantastic wine. Drinking at its peak now, and will continue to do so in the next 5 years. Wine Spectator 93 points. Wine Advocate 97 points. The high alcohol is well integrated by now. Elegant, and a great sipping wine. Paired beautifully with my delicious American Wagyu steak. A blend of 59% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. Unfiltered and unfined. 15.6% alcohol by volume. 95 points. $400.
