Welcome II the Terrordome (1995), by Ngozi Onwurah, is an expressionistic sci-fi/horror drama depicting life in a dystopian inner-city ghetto- addressing systemic oppression, despair, and violence impacting Black women and families.
Jagged Mind (2023) centres on a lesbian relationship between protagonists Billy and Alex. The film is a supernatural allegory for gaslighting, isolation, and domestic abuse, wherein the antagonist uses a mystic artifact to alter time and rewrite her partner's memories to control her.
Today's #Femtober recommendation:
You Are a Lesbian Vampire (2008), by Thirza Cuthand, is a short satirical camp/horror film that explores intersectional queer identity, race, and the comedic-dramatic complications of a Métis/Cree lesbian vampire needing blood.
Queens of the Dead (2025), directed by Tina Romero, is a movie I wish I had known about sooner. Set during a zombie outbreak at a Brooklyn warehouse drag show, this high-energy indie horror centres on drag queens, club kids, and chosen family fighting to survive.

She Will (2021), directed by Charlotte Colbert, is a film about an aging star who travels to the Scottish Highlands to recover from surgery (confronting deep-seated trauma, historical witch hunts, and the legacy of femicide and male predation in the process).
(4/4) She's the most likely to be believed and still isn't. And if she isn't, what about everyone else?
Ginger Snaps (2000) is a Canadian feminist horror film that explores the horrors of menstruation and (cishet) female sexuality and sexual maturity.
