One of the more unique mushrooms we see in the PNW is the Helvella, or elfin saddle. There are a few species here, but I believe this is H. vespertina

A tall and unique mushroom called the western black elfin saddle, or Helvella vespertina, grows with a slight lean to the left above the ground. Its stipe is long, maybe five to six inches, white, and has an unusual folded and wrinkly texture. The cap is black and also has a strange folded texture. It often grows into a saddle-like shape, but this one is more round with flared edges. 📷 Canon R5 Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM M, f/4, 1/5, ISO 400 Stack of 19 images 11/21/24 Olympia area, Washington
