めっちゃ格好良いです (*´ω｀*)

#Netflix’s #EastOfEden is excellent despite Kazan’s needless alterations to Steinbeck. Why explain Cathy’s evil through childhood trauma? Why amplify racism beyond its role in the novel through the SF subplot? Despite these alterations that dilute it, Steinbeck’s central message is timshel.

In particular: Was portraying Catherine as having dissociative identity disorder a directorial choice, or just something happening in my head? I assume it’s not explicit in the novel. #EastOfEden

Watched #EastOfEden out of unfamiliarity with the source material. Not exactly a fun watch. Possibly the most relentlessly depressing costume drama out there.
I am fascinated by its treatment of generational trauma though.

Whilst East of Eden topped bestseller lists, critics long dismissed it. From 1952 to the present day, audiences have embraced the story of family, guilt and choice, but academic opinion remains split over its structure.

Such a strange song choice at the end of episode 4. Jolted me out of the setting #eastofeden

Just watched #Netflix's devastating adaptation of #EastOfEden. Zoe Kazan beautifully tackles this #Masterpiece, and #FlorencePugh is absolutely phenomenal as Cathy Ames. A stunning look at generational #Trauma.

If Hoon Lee isn’t nominated for awards for East of Eden it will be a damn shame. #netflix #eastofeden
