Downland for CD-i, part 9: Back on it. Doing a clean up pass. Sound still being figured out. Feeling existential quandary about making AI write the asm draw functions I know I couldn't do on my own. #downland #cdi #existentialquandaries

Downland_C for NABU: took a detour from the CD-i and implemented a version for the NABU Network computer in time for VCF Montreal. It's pretty much an SG-1000 or Colecovision with 64k of ram and a different sound chip. Runs on real hardware, too! #nabu #downland #tandy #coco

Downland for CD-i, part 8: Finally got the performance up to a pretty good level. I managed to get clever. Next up is sound, my nemesis. #downland #cdi

Downland for CD-i, part 7: Slowly getting the perf up. Had Claude create custom asm draw/erase functions (again, me not an asm guy). Even then the game still draws too much for reaching a constant 60fps. Trying to get more clever. #downland #cdi

Downland for CD-i, part 6: Improved the performance a little. I'll try switching to the lighter 8bit version of the game code. Added input and centered the image. #downland #cdi

Downland for CD-i, part 5: Got the rendering fixed. Performance is still dog poop. #downland #cdi

Downland for CD-i, part 4: First Downland something! Performance is bad and the graphics are weird but at least some recognizable movement! #downland #cdi

Downland for CD-i, part 3: Stripped out the example game and started experiments to draw on the screen. First results are... something. There's a black square with a notch in there. #downland #cdi

Downland for Philips CD-i, part 2: integrated the Downland game code and the project loads the rom. Now trying to figure out how to interact with the machine. Video hardware seems interesting. #downland #cdi

Downland for Philips CD-i, the beginning: wasted the week vibe coding a 16-bit VCD mastering tool replacement. Just use dosbox and forget about it, you dolt. Got a basic project up and running how I like. Integration with the DL code soon. #downland #cdi

Successfully built and ran the CD-I homebrew game github.com/TwBurn/Nobelia. I wonder what I could use this newfound knowledge for... #downland
