Event-Collect BFT folds oracle evidence into the block (closed snapshots + bound BFT). UEP v0.5.82 research testnet keeps evidence outside the state machine — signed statements, height windows, off-node adapters. #distributedsystems

Paper: Raftel — BFT under partial TEE trust (Wen et al.). Bound f < max(n/3, m/2). TEEs raise fault tolerance only once m > 2n/3. Dual quorums + TEE-leader fast path. arxiv.org/abs/2609.09742

Seamless reconfiguration for async DAG-BFT (Hu et al.): membership and quorum thresholds change while the DAG grows — no pause, no epoch boundary wait.

UEP v0.5.81 still has no epoch-change protocol (epoch is config). This is the open design space.

UEP v0.5.81 (research release, no token): works through 10 findings on v0.5.80. 1 resolved in single-process tests, 9 partial. Votes now bind epoch, validator set and proposal.

A queue turns a throughput problem into a latency problem and stays green on the dashboard.

Alert on age, not depth.

#distributedsystems #sre

GROW: Queue health. Watch: age of the oldest message, backpressure, TTL. Don't trust: queue depth alone, unbounded queues, a green dashboard.

Last-write-wins on timestamps doesn't just lose data. It loses it silently and picks the wrong winner with total confidence.

Use a version column.

#distributedsystems #database

GROW: Timestamps are not order. Let the database order writes, use a version column, logical clocks, never trust now() across hosts.
