A fucking cinematic triumph. Why don't people talk about this movie more?? I know some people love it, but this should be, like, a omnipresent, widely-beloved classic comedy movie.

I think this might be a perfect #film.

Steve Martin is great in these closeups. His rubber faced hilarity sells a lot of this.Gosh, she's so cool. I get why she'd be cast in this role. She's very appealing, and super charming and pretty.Lol! The way he's stumbling, but really fast hahaha.Coat and tie come off. I hope he's unsuccessful here, obviously, but I love the comedy in playing up to the line. Surely, Lawrence shows back up or something?

These moments continue to crack me up.

A lot of the humor in comedy comes from the audience and at least 1 character in the scene knowing something that another character does not. It's exciting, & it happens a bunch in this farce film.

I love it. Quality. Art.

Glenne Headly's performance is so charming and authentic (and reads as so real here in this scene) that I'm sincerely in tears for Janet Colgate, a made-up woman who doesn't exist.

That is 2x now in this scene that Lawrence has 'won,' while actually losing.

It's very clever. This movie is kind of like a clock or a watch. I gather it's a remake, which probably helps, & it's just structured brilliantly. This is kind of a brilliant film, imo.

"Oh, excuse me, I've got to go." He loses his con here to Freddy, and it mirrors a moment ago, when he was trying to ingratiate himself by losing big on her pick, but she won. I was worried they'd repeat that writing conceit again (making her too mathematically lucky to be reasonable), but she didn't place the bet Lawrence won here, and she loses Freddy's bet the way Lawrence had intended to. It's very clever, very tight. It works exceptionally well, and I appreciate the craft of it. It fits together like puzzle pieces.I hope you guys are always reading the alt-texts. That's where I really cook. I mean, you know. You're here. But a lot of people don't.
