But for centuries this area around the Town Camber was associated with sailors, smugglers & a colourful maritime past.
Perfect inspiration for the world of DI Andy Horton.

Walk With Horton
The Town Camber in Old Portsmouth is where the story of Portsmouth really began when around 1180, Jean de Gisors recognised its potential for trade with Normandy.
And the Town Camber is one of the real locations behind my DI Andy Horton mysteries.
I've been filming in Old Portsmouth for my Walk With Horton series on my You Tube Channel, the real landscape that inspires my DI Andy Horton Solent Murder Mysteries, where I take you behind the scenes and show you some of the real coastal locations behind the mysteries. #diandyhorton
Peaceful on the surface
Northney Marina on Hayling Island is one of the marinas featured in my DI Andy Horton Solent Murder Mysteries. Another Walk With Horton, exploring the real coastal locations behind my crime novels. More locations coming soon
South Binness Island sits in the middle of Langstone Harbour — a protected bird sanctuary where public access is prohibited.
But what was a boat doing there — and whose blood was on board?
That question inspired The South Binness Murders.

Peaceful. Idyllic.
Broadmarsh on a beautiful summer morning, with Langstone Harbour stretching towards the Isle of Wight.
And yet this is where DI Andy Horton made a startling discovery in The Hayling Island Murders.
Human remains.
