Just recorded a discussion on #Debussy Pelléas et Mélisande for BBC Radio 3. The tapestry in the foyer was a gift from the French Government - ‘a metaphor for broadcasting and freedom of expression’ apparently 🤔

Gogol Bordello has inspired a deep dive into musical exploration. Debussy's Clair de Lune is next, a challenging piece chosen for its entirety over snippets. The goal: to play whole works, not just movements. #gogolbordello #classicalmusic #debussy

🌊 15 Ekim 1905’te, Claude Debussy’nin La mer eseri Paris’te ilk kez seslendirildi.

İlk gösteriminde eleştirilerle karşılaşan üç bölümlük eser, zamanla klasik müziğin başyapıtlarından biri oldu.

The ghostly presence of #Debussy on the piano and Mary Garden singing, recorded in 1904. A real shiver-up-the-spine moment www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-c_...

I will never agree with the notion that bibliographies always need to be updated to clear out all the old stuff. Take Charles Rosen’s 1959 article on #Debussy and #Ravel: it’s insightful and inspiring to a very rare degree
