"Madness. Madness."

🎞 #OTD in #Film #History 2 October 1957, #DavidLean's Best Picture #Oscar-winning THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, starring #WilliamHolden and #AlecGuinness, had its London premiere.

#MauriceJarre was born #OnThisDay in 1924, writing the scores to several of #DavidLean's #films, including "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962) & Dr. Zhivago (1965); here's a scene from the film with the #music of "Lara's Theme":

I really liked THE SOUND BARRIER but can't stop thinking about how much #DavidLean loved his wife. So much so that in 1952, he cast his then 45 yeard old wife Ann Todd (born 1907) as the daughter of the then 50 year old Ralph Richardson (born 1902).
Love makes us do funny things.
