DESCRIPTION: In the Australian Outback, there are tales of a vicious humanoid that roams the lands and is one of the many worldwide hairy humanoid creatures, known as the ‘Yowie’. Described as a bipedal ape like creature that stands to about 5 - 9 ft tall in height, and has brown or reddish shaggy fur. Unlike other hairy humanoids, the Yowie is said to have two long canine like fangs, long claws and is more aggressive. It’s also said to have backward feet to make it hard to track, and a roar similar to a bear or lion. The Yowie is said to roam the Outbacks, and is solitary in nature, but aggressive if provoked. If anything like Dogs, Kangaroos or Humans cross it’s path, it will rip their heads off! Sightings of the beast goes back to Aboriginal history, and British Colonisation have also reported of seeing the hairy creature. Some say the Yowie is a descendant of the extinct Gigantopithecus, similar to the Himalayas, Yeti, or possibly an undiscovered species.

DESCRIPTION: Australia is homed to some of the most terrifying and deadliest animals in the world. But none is more dangerous than the legendary ‘Bunyip’. Physical description of the creature vary widely, describing it as a large hulking dog or seal like creature with walrus like tusks, shaggy hair, scaly skin, sharp claws, and sometimes having a crocodile or horse tail. The Bunyip is said to inhabit swamps, rivers and billabongs, and is said to prey upon people that wander too close to the water. The Bunyip is often viewed as a water spirit from Aboriginal folklore sent to punish bad people, but sightings have been recorded over the years. There are possibilities of the creature existing when natives arrived to Australia, when it was homed to monstrous prehistoric animals, and skeletal remains have been discovered.

DESCRIPTION: Legends tell of a demonic creature living in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, frightening folks and killing livestock, nicknamed the ‘Jersey Devil’. Described as a horned bipedal horse like creature, that has large bat wings and a forked tail. It’s sometimes said to have a dragon like appearance. Witnesses claimed they have seen the demon, slaughtering livestock and attacking people. The origin of the creature dates back years ago, of a woman known as ‘Mother Leeds’ who was pregnant with her 13th child, and cursed it to be a demon. When the child was born, it’s cries turned to demonic screeches and transformed into a devilish creature, and flew up the chimney and into the woods. Some say the mother was a Witch, and the father was the Devil himself. The creature is often seen as an urban legend, but some say to have seen it and heard it’s demonic screeches in the forests at night.

DESCRIPTION: In the late 1970’s, sightings and legends of a creature was spotted in the woods of Maryland US known as the ‘Goatman’ or ‘Maryland Goatman’. Described as a half man, half goat humanoid, sometimes having brown or black fur, closely resembling a Faun from Mythology. It is also said to wield an axe. The Goatman wanders the forests of Maryland and attacks anyone with it’s axe, that it comes across (usually young couples). There are even stories of the Goatman mimicking human voices to lure victims to their doom. The origin of the Goatman varies in many tales. Some say he was a farmer that was cursed, others tell of a satanic ritual gone wrong. But the well known tale, is that he was once a scientist experimenting with animals such as goats, but backfired and turned him into a human goat hybrid with a lust of jealousy and blood.

DESCRIPTION: Sometimes on the shores of beaches and coastlines, a strange organic matter is sighted on the sand, commonly referred to as the ‘Globster’. The Globster or the Glob is described as a huge blob like creature with white slimy fur. It’s size varies, and is sometimes found with the remains of sea creatures like fish and squid within it. Sightings of this strange cryptid date back to the 19th century and continue in recent times. They are usually found washed up on the shores of beaches, and no one knows what it could be. But the valid explanation for the Globster, are that it’s the remains of a sea animal carcass, particularly whales.

DESCRIPTION: The Lake of Loch Ness is one of the deepest lakes in the world, with a 230 meters depth, with various wildlife living in it. But mystery surrounds the lake of a Beast living deep in the waters, known as the ‘Loch Ness Monster’. The Loch Ness Monster (sometimes Nessie for short) is a black or grey rubbery skinned sea serpent about 20 feet long with a hump on its back, a long neck and paddling fins. Often closely matching the extinct Plesiosaur. Sightings of Nessie date back to medieval times of a sea serpent emerging from the waters, and in the 20th century obscured photographs have been taken of it. No evidence has been found of its existence and sightings are mistaken to be otters, eels, seals or logs in the water. Some photographs taken are often fabricated and lead to be hoaxes. But some still believe there is something living deep in the bottom of Loch Ness in the murky waters.

DESCRIPTION: The city of Loveland, in the state of Ohio has had strange sightings of an odd Cryptid, known as the ‘Loveland Frogman’. The Frogmen are described as 3 to 4 ft tall bipedal creatures that resemble frogs, with webbed hands and feet, and sometimes scales going down their backs. Witnesses who claimed to have seen the Frogmen range differently, with one incident of an officer seeing one on the road, before climbing a guardrail and jumping into the lake. One incident involved a driver seeing a group of Frogmen and one holding a ‘magic wand’ and casting a spark. However many claim the Frogmen to be a hoax, and some say they’re misidentified as an escaped Iguana without its tail. But in recent times some say they have spotted one, during the rise of the game ‘Pokémon Go’.

DESCRIPTION: A local legend from Folklore, has been around since America was first discovered of a strange animal living in the wild, known as a ‘Jackalope’. Described as a Jackrabbit with deer antlers that is said to be extremely shy, and can run up to 90 miles per hour, and is even said to mimic sounds. Some claim to have captured Jackalope’s and mounted their heads on walls. But there is little evidence of the animal existing and has lead to be a hoax. But the common explanation could be that of the ‘Shope papilloma virus’ giving rabbits tumours that look like they have horns on their heads.

DESCRIPTION: High in the snowy mountains of the Himalayas, there is said to live a creature from folklore, known as the ‘Yeti’. The Yeti or sometimes called the ‘Abominable Snowman’ is said to be a bipedal hairy ape like beast, standing at around 8-10 ft tall, with large feet and sometimes having fangs. It’s fur colour ranges from red, brown, grey to white (though white is a common misconception). Origins of the Yeti date back to Buddhist Mythology, describing them as shy, solitary and peaceful creatures, but in recent times reported sightings of the Yeti have risen, leading to searches for it, but only foot prints in the snow, to bones and fur have been discovered. While there have been no official captures of the Yeti, and things like fur could be from Bears, leading some to believe it’s a hoax. But some say it might exist, and some point to it being related to the extinct ape species, Gigantopithecus. It is one of the many hairy humanoids sighted around the world.

DESCRIPTION: There are stories of encounters of a Cryptid that many have seen in West Virginia in the town of Point Pleasant, referred to as the ‘Mothman’. Described as a dark winged humanoid, that stands to about 6.5 to 7 feet tall, with a wingspan of nearly 10 feet. Some say the creature is brown or dark, has glowing red eyes, and can fly up to 100 miles per hour. Sightings have been reported by many. A young couple claimed to have seen the creature flying towards their car in ‘the TNT Area’, and some report of seeing the creature in a cemetery. However the famous known sighting of all, was on December 15th 1967, when the Silver Bridge suddenly collapsed, and some claim to have seen the Mothman flying overhead. Ever since then, sightings of the Mothman ceased. Some speculate the Mothman might’ve been an omen warning of disaster, some say that it was an extraterrestrial. But logical explanations might have been misidentifications involving large Herons, and Owls.

DESCRIPTION: West Virginia is known to have many encounters with strange Cryptids, but none is more stranger than the ‘Flatwoods Monster’. The Flatwoods Monster is a 10 ft tall humanoid being. Described as having a Blood Red face with an Ace of Spades shaped hood, glowing yellow eyes, a metallic green or black body, and sharp clawed fingers. It’s also said to float above the ground. The first sighting happened on September 12 1952 at 7.15 PM, when three children saw a glowing object in the sky, land near by. They went with their mother, accompanied by a National Guard, to investigate and the group said they smelt a ‘Pungent Mist’ in the air, and when the Guard aimed his flashlight at two glowing lights, they saw the creature. It let out a shrilling hiss, before lunging towards them, causing them to run in fear. Explanations of this encounter claim that there was a reported meteorite at the time, and the creature could’ve been a misidentification of a Barn Owl.

DESCRIPTION: Deep in the icy ocean of the Arctic circle, there have been claims of seeing a giant humanoid within the waters, referred to as ‘Ningen’ (meaning ‘Human’ in Japanese). Ningen are described as being white and being up to 20 - 30 meters in length, and are said to be humanoid beings from having human like heads and 5 fingered hands. Sometimes they are said to have mermaid like tails instead of legs, and have small eyes and a mouth. According to one sighting, crew members on deck mistaken one for a submarine, but observed it as not man made, and was alive, until it quickly disappeared. Some have even been spotted on Google Maps near Antarctica. Some explanations, could be a misidentification of beluga whales, sharks, giant squid, or capsized icebergs. But the ocean still holds undiscovered mysteries.

DESCRIPTION: Widespread incidents have occurred among farmers in the US and Mexico, of dead cattle caused by a creature called the ‘Chupacabra’ (meaning ‘Goat-Sucker’ in Spanish). Described as a humanoid reptilian creature with spines on its back and said to have red eyes. However in some claims, the creature is said to be almost canine like. The Chupacabra is said to invade farms and drain the blood of animals such as sheep or goats. There have been over 2,000 sightings of this vampiric creature across Mexico and the United States, but no effort in capturing it. Sightings of UFO’s have been reported along with Chupacabras as well, making some to believe they are extraterrestrials.

DESCRIPTION: In the village of Mawnan, Cornwall, a flying humanoid cryptid was sighted around a church tower, dubbed the ‘Owlman’. Described as a humanoid figure resembling that of an owl, with large wings, a human like body and glowing red eyes. The first sighting of the creature occurred during a families holiday, when two girls claimed to have seen a large man-like creature, flying in circles over the Church Tower! They were so scared that the family cut their holiday short. They’re have been other reportings of the creature, but some experts claim it to be a misidentification of a real Owl or a trick by the illusionist, Tony Doc Shiels.
