In asl you sign the meaning of a statement not necessarily word for word what it would be in English so there’s a lot of thought that goes into interpreting. I felt pressure to accurately convey the meaning of the message but I think I succeeded #cpchatnow

People also fail to realize someone suicidal may think others are better off without the person. A completely false premise, but one that can be hard to battle. #CPChatNow

Agreed. People still let the negative connotation of suicide overshadow the good things a person does I know people still do concerning my grandpa but I think a person's death should never over take how they chose to live the rest of their lives #cpchatnow

I also interpreted a song at both my parents funerals respectively which was very difficult emotionally but proved I could interpret even in tough situations #cpchatnow

Additionally, I feel like suicide carries a negative stigma of being a selfish act. Seeing how my friend who committed suicide was one of the most selfless people I knew, I learned the hard way it's not. #CPChatNow

That's so true. I thought of Robin Williams reading about RJ Mitte today because both had been a voice for mental health or had a documented history. Probably the greatest challenge is those suicidal thoughts are an ongoing battle and not a one and done deal. One weak moment and... #CPChatNow

I did interpret one of my dad‘s Sunday school lessons before he passed away with no preparation he asked me that morning we had a Deaf couple who attended our church and the services were signed regularly for them. That day they also attended Sunday school not just main worship services #cpchatnow
