#cooking #cornstarch

Quick sauce: Mix 1 tbsp cornstarch, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sugar, and a little cold water. Pour into a hot pan with vegetables. Stir for 1 minute until the mixture becomes glossy and thickened. Fast and lump-free.

#cornstarch #cooking

Cornstarch has twice the thickening power of wheat flour. To prevent lumps from forming, it must always be dissolved in a cold liquid to create a slurry before being added to a hot mixture.

#cornstarch #tips

Cornstarch removes grease stains from fabric. Sprinkle directly on the stain, let sit for 15 minutes, then brush off. For carpet stains, mix with water to form a paste, apply, let dry completely, then vacuum.

Harvard Beets

#Beets were a frequent #SideDish at family gatherings. Their distinctive red colouring and juice made them easy to spot. This #Recipe adds #Sugar, #Vinegar, and #Cornstarch to transform this side into something akin to a #Dessert. #Recipes
