Anti-imperialism means thinking independently of BOTH propaganda machines. I do not need Washington to tell me that concentrating political power above ordinary people contradicts socialism. My politics begins with one standard everywhere: power belongs to the people themselves. #communalism

My solidarity belongs to workers, minorities, dissidents, colonized peoples, prisoners, migrants, women, queer people, religious minorities, and communities struggling to govern themselves. No empire gets an exemption because its enemy is Washington. #communalism

Campism takes the simple moral principle “oppose domination” and replaces it with “oppose domination only when the wrong flag commits it.” That is not internationalism. #communalism

I can oppose NATO wars without pretending Moscow automatically represents anti-imperialism. I can oppose sanctions on Cuba while condemning the Cuban state when it imprisons people for peaceful dissent. I can condemn capitalism without defending one-party rule. #communalism

I am not joining your geopolitical sports team. I can oppose American imperialism without pretending Chinese state domination becomes liberation. #communalism

I want something far more democratic: neighborhood assemblies, worker self-management, municipal ownership, cooperatives, commons, recallable delegates, and confederations built from below. The choice is not Washington or Beijing. The choice is domination or democracy. #communalism

China is not the model I am fighting for. I do not want capitalism with billionaires and corporations, but I also do not want political life organized beneath the permanent leadership of one dominant party. #communalism

Libertarian socialism reverses that direction: assemblies mandate delegates, workers govern workplaces, communities govern themselves, and confederations coordinate rather than command. #communalism

The party speaks for the workers, the central committee speaks for the party, and eventually a small leadership speaks for the central committee. At every step ordinary people surrender more direct power. #communalism

The fatal contradiction of Leninism is the vanguard problem: the party claims to represent the working class, then gradually substitutes itself for the working class. #communalism

If ordinary people cannot independently organize, directly govern their communities, control their workplaces, and remove those exercising power over them, then power has not been socialized. It has merely changed hands. Socialism should abolish the distinction between rulers and ruled. #communalism

My problem with Marxism-Leninism is actually very simple: if workers are supposed to rule society, why must a political party rule the workers? Calling a bureaucracy “proletarian” does not make workers sovereign. #communalism
