Grasmere to Patterdale, day 4 #coasttocoast Path. Short but steep and violently windy ascent up to Grisedale Tarn, followed by a long descent into Patterdale. The wind was often scary-strong and managed to knock me over once. Descending on a steep, wet, rocky trail was especially challenging.

Rosthwaite to Grasdale, Day 3 on the #coasttocoast Path. So wet! Scary stream crossings were the order of the day, and washed-out sections of the path that were more boulder-streams than path. But they aren’t lying about the views in the Lake District.

Ennerdale Bridge to Rosthwaite, Day 2 on the #coasttocoast Path. Long hard day of scrambling over rocks and splashing along the path in rain and wind, capped by climbing 1,000ft in a mile to win those famous Lake District views. Solitude: not a person from Ennerdale Water to Black Sail hostel.

St. Bees to Ennerdale Bridge.First day on the #coasttocoast Path, across.Perfect weather (sun even, late), a route shortened by a Diversion at the beginning (the path fell into the sea, but hey it happens), and early to the Fox and Hounds.They won’t always be like this, so I’m savoring this time.
