Today's #31DaysOfGraves theme is lettering. This is the Miller monument in #Chichester #cathedral. The overall monument is a typically early 18th one but the text is especially elegant. @churchmonuments.bsky.social

A zoomed in view of the monument just showing the text which is black lettering on white marble. It has quite a mixture of upper and lower case letters, many of them in a cursive style. There are quite a few superscript letters like Septr which has the t and r superscript. A photograph of the overall monument attached to a wall. It is made of white marble with dark (black?) veins. There are two columns supporting a pediment on top of which is the family crest. Outside the columns are two chubby cherubs on either side. Each cherub has one foot on a skull. Between the two columns is the long text shown in the previous photograph. There is another inscription in the panel below.
