"The Chambly Canal is a waterway located along the Richelieu River in Quebec. It connects Lake Champlain to the Chambly Basin. Opened in 1843, it was designated a National Historic Site of Canada on May 17, 1929. Construction of the Chambly Canal was authorized in 1818 by the government of Lower Canada. Its purpose was to bypass rapids and overcome a significant change in elevation between the Chambly Basin and the Upper Richelieu." A navigable beauty! "Le canal de Chambly est une voie navigable située le long de la rivière Richelieu, au Québec. Il relie le lac Champlain au bassin de Chambly.
