To create unique visuals for Laser Lords, developer Spinmaker used the claymation talents of Ronald Valentine Joyce. The figurine used for Starlord Zendo, and the original painting used for the game's cover, sold online for thousands of dollars in 2020.

Downland for CD-i, part 9: Back on it. Doing a clean up pass. Sound still being figured out. Feeling existential quandary about making AI write the asm draw functions I know I couldn't do on my own. #downland #cdi #existentialquandaries

#linktober day 10: Merchant

Beedle meets a fellow Merchant that's perhaps a little 'more foreign' than his usual clientel 💣

🌄 CD-i on Sunday morning, featuring our second most used #Cdi model after 220, The 210!
Another 200 series consumer model, but slightly cut down for cost purposes

With a DVC fitted, it gets the job done, and is still a beast, so perfect for under the TV

Do you own a 210?

Downland for CD-i, part 8: Finally got the performance up to a pretty good level. I managed to get clever. Next up is sound, my nemesis. #downland #cdi

Downland for CD-i, part 7: Slowly getting the perf up. Had Claude create custom asm draw/erase functions (again, me not an asm guy). Even then the game still draws too much for reaching a constant 60fps. Trying to get more clever. #downland #cdi

Well, if #Doom and the Phillip's #CDi isn't a match made in heaven, I don't know what is

What's more, is that this branch of the "Dread" engine is also being ported by @happy-ferret.bsky.social
to

#3DO
#SNES
#VirtualBoy
and #N64 as well

Downland for CD-i, part 6: Improved the performance a little. I'll try switching to the lighter 8bit version of the game code. Added input and centered the image. #downland #cdi

Downland for CD-i, part 5: Got the rendering fixed. Performance is still dog poop. #downland #cdi

Downland for CD-i, part 4: First Downland something! Performance is bad and the graphics are weird but at least some recognizable movement! #downland #cdi
