"Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes."
To Jung, the entire external world, with all its distractions, is just a collective illusion.
True awakening requires a descent into the dark, terrifying, and vast ocean of the individual unconscious #CarlJung
@dragonswithin.bsky.social🧵 Thread 6/6 — What trait in others consistently triggers you? If it had a message from your shadow, what might it be trying to return to you? 🌓
@dragonswithin.bsky.social🧵 Thread 5/6 — A useful question: 'Where do I do this too — even subtly, even internally, even in a way I justify?' The answer is not for self-attack. It is for integration.
@dragonswithin.bsky.social🧵 Thread 4/6 — If someone's boldness enrages you, maybe your own boldness was punished. If someone's neediness disgusts you, maybe your own need was shamed. Projection can point toward exiled material.
@dragonswithin.bsky.social🧵 Thread 3/6 — The shadow is not only your cruelty or fear. It can hold your confidence, desire, creativity, anger, ambition, softness — anything you learned was unsafe to own directly.
@dragonswithin.bsky.social🧵 Thread 2/6 — This does not mean every irritation is secretly your fault. Some behaviour really is harmful. But the intensity of a trigger can be a clue: why this person, this trait, this much charge?
@dragonswithin.bsky.social🧵 Thread 1/6 — Projection is one of the shadow's favourite disguises. You think you are reacting to someone else. Often, you are meeting a disowned part of yourself wearing their face.

@djp1974.bsky.socialFor the understanding of the #unconscious we must see our thoughts as events, as phenomena.
