#HGGSP #geography #carboncycle #climate

How the compound droughts affect vegetation productivity remains unclear. Jia Liu et al. defined #atmosphericdroughts, soil, and compound droughts based on #vaporpressuredeficit and #soilmoisture, and investigated the study.

🌊 A hidden ocean carbon store

Checking 70,668 ocean profiles worldwide, scientists found thin particle layers in 9% of them, most common in low oxygen zones, where they hold 16% of the deep carbon. Elsewhere, the cause is unknown.

🏜️Did you know winter drought actually boosts summer carbon uptake in Southwestern US #grasslands? Zhang et al. explain how this happens in their dataset and article at doi.org/10.25422/azu... and doi.org/10.1111/pce..... Check them out.
