Gee, if only certain newspapers hadn't normalized this congenital liar/traitor 24/7 in the time leading up to the last election, and in the time since. #BrokenTimes

What does the @nytimes.com get wrong about their coverage of Trump and this dangerous time?
@markjacob.bsky.social brings his years of experience to a conversation about the #BrokenTimes. I wrote about it here and hope you'll enjoy and share!!
I've watched it many times, @markjacob.bsky.social and there is sooo much in that 15 minutes. Thank you for your clarity and passion to call out the #BrokenTimes.

In fairness, the NYTimes has a new one, the "vivid display of power" to describe Rubio's side hustle running Venezuela. He's "the Viceroy of Venezuela." Who says the Times can't be creative defending Trump lawlessness? Naming it, describing it--not so much.

why don't more people unsubscribe from the #brokentimes @jeffjarvis.bsky.social ?? www.dailykos.com/stories/2026...
Healy says the Times needs admin and Trump world sources to keep talking to NYT reporters - using blunt moral language would risk that access. That's a business and operational justification for soft enabling language, NOT a journalistic one. The #BrokenTimes enables fascism to maintain access.

You named the issue so clearly: the #BrokenTimes euphemistic language around Trump isn't neutrality, it's meant to avoid holding Trump accountable. It's the institutional framing that lets authoritarianism metastasize in plain sight while the paper of record congratulates itself on being a referee.
by avoiding the word "fascist" it's not evidence of accuracy, it's a both-sides positioning that gives cover to some of their readers who enable, benefit from, or are complicit in the authoritarian takeover of our country. #BrokenTimes really sucks. @markjacob.bsky.social is brilliant.
Mark tries and is nicer than I'd be, but Healy doesn't listen; he's only defensive. He dismisses "fascist" as an inflammatory "adjective." No, it is a noun, and by refusing to use it, the #BrokenTimes fails to report on and explain the imminent peril to democracy under Trump. The Times fails us.
I want to make sure Professor @jeffjarvis.bsky.social sees this. He has been ranting about the #brokentimes for quite a while.
The #BrokenTimes turns Zacharia's fraud into a joke: a "whole mishegas" that is "misleading at best." No, it is a lie. The NYT so loves letting the ruling fascists off the hook.

This morning, #BrokenTimes was killing off the Holy Father. Later, it discovers new treatments and prognoses for lung cancer. Imagine if they'd done this research first. What an idea: reporting.

Reactionary centrism is what makes fascism possible. Think about it.
The #BrokenTimes documents the flood without naming the hand on the valve. That's not neutral reporting, it gives cover to Trump and Repubs who echo his language-they have no ideas and must demonize Dems to inflame voters. "Political violence is rising" both-sides the problem and protects the Repubs
I would say its the #media and #BrokenTimes that moved the line because they refused to call corruption for what it is, and instead spent all their time coming up with convoluted wordings that hinted, but didn't spell it out, that it was corrupt as hell. See the recent article on Kushner & 🇷🇺. 🤦 👇
Mamdani will never get a fair shake from what @jeffjarvis.bsky.social rightly calls the #BrokenTimes
The #BrokenTimes is so desperate to appear even handed it's overlooking that one party wants to end democracy in the US. "The correct way to practice politics in 2026 is to read The New York Times but remember that much of the essential news to save our democracy has been fit to print elsewhere."
