Kept awake most of the night by the torrential rain. So it's coffee time ☕ And today marks the anniversary of Cole Porter's death in 1964, at age 73. No one does the Great American Songbook better than Bird.

Shuffling around the kitchen this morning ☕ 🥣 One of my favourite albums is 42 today. Smart, melodic, humorous, it really spoke to 15-year-old me. The wonderful 'Rattlesnakes' by Lloyd Cole & The Commotions...

A cold Sunday morning, but I have zero plans to set foot outside. Catching up on some TV box sets. But first, coffee ☕ and pancakes 🥞 with the forever-cool Art Blakey playing. Today would have been his birthday...

A dark, cold, windy, rainy morning on the Scottish coast...and I love this time of year. Proper Scottish weather. So coffee, bagels and a warm dog at my feet, with the wonderful Monk playing on his birthday

An early alarm this morning, so coffee ☕ ☕ is the first order of the day. Breakfast is the newly remastered version of the first Miles Davis solo 'album'. Released on Prestige 10" 75 years ago today, October 5th.

The wonderful 'Brotherhood' turns 40 today. Probably the most 'New Order' album they released and criminally underrated, I think. Dancing around the kitchen while making breakfast ☕ 🥞 says something different...

Another wet morning ☕ 🥞 on the Scottish coast. I’m still not used to the darkness at this hour, but that will pass. Today would have been George Gershwin’s birthday. A perfect excuse to play this classic from 1959.

Fresh early alarm, and the first 24 hours of Autumn have been wet. Looking out at the garden, the dog isn't budging. So, coffee/bagels ☕ 🥯, and to mark his birth 100 years ago today. The masterful John Coltrane...

An early alarm for the Solstice, and we've officially hit Autumn. The perfect soundtrack is in memory of Irving Berlin, who died on this day in 1989. I grew up with these records playing in the house. It's perfect...

A second cup of coffee and a day at home start with one of my absolute favourite 80s albums. I played this to death...released 41 years ago today. The epic 'This Is The Sea'

It's the birthday of the great Elvin Jones who sadly passed in 2004. He played on some greatest recording ever made, but this is one of my favourites with McCoy Tyner. His drumming is such a joy...

Starting a WFH day with a birthday celebration of the wonderful Aimee Mann. One of a handful of artists who I find no fault in. Love this album in particular...

A grey Scottish morning. This mornings soundtrack is 39 today. The ‘comeback’ album from Pink Floyd. I really like this record and it sounds great on a dark morning…
