Big, chunky, pale birds feeding on Whitebeam berries. Males with pale pink underparts tone. At least one male with ideal uneven upper edge of wingbar. Pallid females with 'Waxwing tones'. #birdingFife

FH gets a good turn over of Bullfinch in autumn, birds stage and feed on berries before moving on, e.g., 13 off to SW on 16th. Most are UK birds, but we get small numbers of birds showing characters of Northern some years. Five such birds the last few days. #birdingFife
Delighted to find this Snow Bunting at Out Head, St Andrews earlier today. #birdingFife #BirdingScotland
Lesser Yellowlegs still at Eden Estuary yesterday. Thought I couldn't find it while I was there but luckily picked it out when looking through photos! Wasn't behind the bridges and instead was very far out on the estuary.

After a couple unsetttled days, calm conditions encouraged several visits across the day. A good variety of species recorded with the highlights being two Twite and a late Osprey. Twite not quite annual at FH. A Stonechat was a migrant too, they don't breed here. #birdingFife
Found this Great White Egret at Angle Park earlier today. Not the rarity it used to be but still a scare bird in Fife. #birdingFife #BirdingScotland
Views of the Beans weren't as good as 28th Sept but I wouldn't expect them to be, that was exceptional. A Red Kite flew south-west across the Forth the same morning, the second of the autumn of this uncommon species in Fife. #birdingFife
A sharp drop in temps and some clear, calm mornings stimulated some movement the last few days at FH. The highlights came on 7/10/26 with another excellent count of Taiga Beans; 20 made up of a nice flock of 17 and 3 others. #birdingFife
Chilly at Fife Ness today. My first Long-tailed Duck (2) and gloves (also 2) of the autumn, plus a juv Pomarine Skua beating up and then killing a Kittiwake. Still remember from last autumn a juv casually beating up an adult G b-b Gull for no apparent reason #birdingFife
Two GN Divers powering inland on 1/10, enjoyed with J Nadin. PB Brent and Barnacle Geese adding to the variety. Early Oct the classic time for Barnie passage, en route from Svalbard to the Solway. #birdingFife

Nice to finally catch up with a Balearic Shear in Fife at Kinghorn. Bit of a bogey bird for me really. They are annual in small numbers at Fife Ness and do make it up the Forth too. This bird was scuttling over the waves following feeding flocks of terns, Razorbills etc. #birdingFife
Great 2025 BBRC report in the latest issue of @britishbirds.bsky.social and nice to see the Fife Ness Bridled Tern (2025) and Brown Booby (2024) accepted #birdingFife #rarebirdsUK
Not exactly hooching with migrants at Balcomie Castle but Ring Ouzel and Pied Fly but the real surprise a Shore Lark lifting up from next to me at the edge of the track #birdingFife
No such worries when a flock passes this close in excellent light. A joint largest flock of 29 flew past at low level, easily my best ever views. Two of the birds in the images are ringed and one of these also has a neck collar. #birdingFife

Ferry Hills.
Taiga Bean Goose is scarce but annual these days at FH. Not a big surprise as we are on a direct flight line to the Slamannan Plateau. But, its a small population of approx. 200 birds and geese can be challenging to ID in flight. #birdingFife
A brief watch over a calm Firth of Forth from Kinghorn this evening - a juv Long-tailed and 2 Arctic Skuas chasing some of the many (40+) Common Terns still around. Also loads of auks, mainly Razorbills, but few Kittiwakes and no Sab Gulls, unfortunately #BirdingFife
In the PM finally scored a Sabs Gull at Kinghorn. It's been a good autumn for Sabs in the Forth. Kinghorn has traditionally been a reliable site in Fife. Mine was a Juv while Tam Stewart had an Adult in the morning. #birdingFife
