You’ve made it through your first few weeks at uni. You’ve got lost, forgotten names, perhaps already found a new favourite person, and at least once pretended you understood how the modules work. So it’s time to kick off the important part of university life: going out to party. There’ll be music, drinks and, hopefully, enough reasons to not remember exactly when you actually went home the next morning. Dance, meet new people, and maybe by the end the dance floor will be busier than any of the introductory sessions over the last two weeks. All degree programmes are welcome, and students from all years, of course. Bring your mates, make new friends along the way, or just pop round on your own! ♿️ Accessibility: There is a lift and ramps inside the building. However, there are two steps without a ramp at the side entrance, and there is no accessible toilet. Please let us know if you need any assistance.

Die ersten Wochen an der Uni sind geschafft. Zeit also, den wichtigen Teil des Studiums einzuläuten: feiern gehen. Es wird Musik, Getränke und hoffentlich genug Gründe geben, am nächsten Morgen nicht mehr genau zu wissen, wann ihr eigentlich nach Hause gegangen seid. Tanzt, lernt neue Leute kennen und vielleicht wird die Tanzfläche am Ende ja voller als jede Einführungsveranstaltung der letzten zwei Wochen. Alle Fachrichtungen sind willkommen, alle Semester sowieso. Bringt eure Leute mit, schließt euch unterwegs neuen an oder kommt einfach alleine vorbei! ♿️ Barrieren: Es gibt einen Fahrstuhl und Rampen im Innenbereich. Am Seiteneingang befinden sich jedoch zwei Stufen ohne Rampe, außerdem gibt es kein barrierefreies WC. Bitte informiert uns bei Bedarf.

What does it mean when a neighbourhood like the ‘Kotti’ or the ‘Görli’ becomes a testing ground for surveillance technologies? We want to discuss this with experts in data protection and police law, as well as local activists from the neighbourhood. Penny Prinz from Berlin conducts research into surveillance and political protest. Martin Schwarzbeck is an editor at netzpolitik.org and focuses on, amongst other things, AI-based video surveillance systems. Fabian de Hair is a criminologist in Hamburg and has investigated the social consequences of AI video surveillance as part of a research project. This week is centred around one event, but it's a big one. The exhibition "Picturing Scholasticide" documents Israel's systematic destruction of the Palestinian education system, with Gaza as its focus. Thanks to @academicboycottnow , we are bringing it to Germany, and are honored to be the ones opening this moving exhibition. For more information on the exhibition, check out their post too! For further context and engagement, we are hosting a panel on Friday the 16th about the exhibition and how Palestinians in Gaza are resisting scholasticide. The panel is part of a two-panel series, with the second one focusing on the West Bank on the 30th of october - so stay tuned for that one as well. The exhibition and panel will both take place in the “Plenarsaal” in the AStA Building. There will be signs to guide you once you find the building. The exhibition will last from 14-18:00 every day from Wednesday the 14th until Friday the 16th, and wrapping up on the final day at 18:00 with the panel featuring some of the designers and a professor from a Gaza university.
