For #ShadowsMemoryArtifacts, we honor writer & feminist Ayako Ishigaki (1903–1996). Living in Greenwich Village, she wrote for radical presses & published 'Restless Wave' (1940), linking women's rights & anti-militarism across international borders.

During WWII, Kentaro Ikeda (Princeton’s only Japanese student in 1941) faced campus house arrest, frozen funds, and isolation as an "enemy alien."

Despite this, he graduated. Princeton dedicated the Ikeda Arch in 2022 to his legacy.
