Chapter 32 of my original comic, “Aria of Stars and Snow”. It is drawn digitally and colored in a monochromatic purple, though this one has some brown in it too. The characters in this chapter are mainly Janae and Pluto, with short appearances of Wistaria, Zeb, and Reyvin. Janae is a young woman with dark hair with side swept bang. The rest is pulled into twin hair buns. She wears a dark shirt with three buttons with a white collar and short poofy sleeves with a stripe at the end. She wears high waisted pants and white boots with a dark purple top, bottom and stripe in the middle. In the flashback, she wears her hair in two ponytails with scrunchies and has on a fuzzy sweater, sash, and crescent moon necklace with a skirt. Pluto is a teenager with dark hair and long bangs, the rest of his hair is layered but a similar length to the bangs. He has on a turtleneck t-shirt under a black tank top. He wears white jeans and purple running shoes. Panel 1: Janae and Pluto are on a dirt path, lined with bushes and grass. The sky is cloudy and both are carrying several bags. Janae smiles and looks to him, asking “Did you have fun shopping, Pluto?” He says, “It was fine, yeah.” Panel 2: Pluto continues and says “We bought a lot though, even with all our stuff at home. Isn’t it expensive?” Panel 3: Janae smiles a horrified smile as she things about a grave with the words “Janae’s Wallet” and says “Haha… yes, why?” Pluto quickly says “Uhh… never mind.” Panel 4: They continue to walk together down the path. Zeb walks behind, looking out into the distance. Ahead is Wistaria and Reyvin, only the heads and shoulders visible. They all seem to be doing well. Panel 5: Pluto looks down, thinking. “….” Panel 6: Pluto looks to Janae with a serious face and says “Janae, are you okay with all this?” Panel 7: And tiny Janae tilts her head and asks “Hm? All what?”

Wistaria is a child with long bangs and light wavy hair that reaches a little past her shoulders. She wears Pluto’s sweater on her head to obscure her face. She has on a dark purple sweatshirt and white pants. Panel 1: Pluto has picked up some rope and examines it closely. Zeb looks down curiously and holds it lightly with one hand. Janae takes a bunch of rope and with a smile, shapes it into a butterfly and makes the wind flap, impressing Reyvin and Wistaria. Panel 2: Zeb looks off into the distance and Pluto smiles with his arms crossed at Janae, Reyvin, and Wistaria. Janae and Reyvin are putting a bow on Aria’s head while wearing one in their hair. It is surrounded in grass and is off the street of the town. A voice from within says “No to both options.” Panel 2: Pluto is revealed to have been the speaker, a stern expression on his face while his arms are folded. He speaks to his brothers. Panel 3: Reyvin holds a large jar filled with sprinkles as Pluto says “Those rainbow sprinkles will get gross in the snow.” Panel 4: Zeb looks up seriously while holding a fish in his hands. She looks upset and says “…Aria, did you… did you think I was going to-“ Panel 3: Wistaria leans forward and looks upset and troubled as she yells “NO! I didn’t! It was an accident, I don’t know why I did that.” Panel 4: Wistaria looks calmer, but still troubled as she says “You’ve been so nice to me. Even when I’m… difficult and not nice. I’m really sorry.” Panel 5: Janae has turned towards Wistaria with a serious expression and Wistaria looks focused on her. Janae says “Aria, I need to say something. It’s really important, okay?” Wistaria answers with “Um… okay.” Janae says “Okay.” Panel 6: Janae’s expression grows more serious as she says “You haven’t ruined anything or done anything wrong. But even if you did, that would be okay.” Panel 7: Janae looks earnest and emotional as she looks directly at Wistaria, leaning over a little to match her level. She says “You can talk to me whenever you’re ready, about anything. I’m here. I care about you, Aria. No matter what, nothing will change that.” Alt text continued below!

The scene begins as Wistaria sits in a dark alleyway in town and Janae approaches her from the street. Panel 1: Wistaria sits against the wall, holding the purple jacket Pluto gave her over her head to hide herself. From down the street, Janae calls out “Aria!!” Panel 2: Janae leans around the corner, her expression a mix of concern and relief as she asks “How are we oh feeling?” Panel 3: Aria doesn’t answer, and Janae walks down the alley towards her. Panel 4: Janae quietly sits down next to Wistaria. Panel 5: Janae is on her knees at about Wistaria’s level. With a gentle expression, she starts to say “Do you-“ but is interrupted as Wistaria says “I’m sorry!” She holds the jacket over her head and her face is visible. She looks upset. Panel 6: A close up of Wistaria’s face, she looks like she’s panicking and starts saying “I was supposed to be BETTER but I- I RUINED your trip after you invited me, but I didn’t mean to, I really didn’t and I’m sorry, I’m-“ Panel 7: Janae smiles but looks a little worried as she says “You didn’t do anything wrong, I promise, so please don’t apologize.” Alt text continued below!
