@etiquetteer.bsky.socialEtiquetteer would like to wish you a Perfectly Proper #AnitaBryant Day, the anniversary of her celebrated/notorious receipt of a #pieintheface on October 14, 1977. To observe, let's review how to take a pie in the face with Perfect Propriety:
@paulinepark.bsky.social#OnThisDay in 1977, anti-gay crusader #AnitaBryant was 'pied' by gay rights activist Thom Higgins. Bryant led Save Our Children, a homophobic campaigning group which successfully overturned legal protections for #LGBT+ people in #DadeCounty (Florida)~Working Class History
@liamomaraiv.bsky.socialOn #ThisDayInHistory in 1977, #Christian #bigot and anti-#LGBTQ campaigner #AnitaBryant got a pie to the face during a public appearance. Folding hate and judgement into Christian messaging is a betrayal of the #Gospel message. Actual love involves acceptance, not condemnation.
@dickmac999.bsky.social#OnThisDay in 1977, American bigot Anita Bryant, while delivering another hateful speech belittling homosexual taxpayers, was pied by Tom Higgins. The incident took place in Des Moines, Iowa, and was a highlight of the year.

@prismnpen.bsky.socialThe Halloween of 1978 was especially scary. We were under attack by the people aligned with Anita Bryant’s national anti-gay campaign.
