This scene shows the colourful Mars-like landscape of Parys Mountain in Anglesey, Wales on a sunny June day.
It is a historic site known for its copper mining activities dating back to the Bronze Age. It was once the largest copper mine in the world during the late 18th century.
The dramatic, orange-and-purple-hued rock formations are a result of industrial excavation, and the area is often described as resembling a Mars-like landscape.
The distinctive, vibrant orange, yellow, and purple hues are caused by the oxidation of minerals like pyrite and chalcopyrite in the exposed rock strata.

Parys Mountain is composed of a mix of sedimentary, volcanic and metamorphic geology with rich veins of metallic ores containing copper, zinc, lead, silver and gold.
In spite of being mined for 4000 years it was only in 1768 that local miner Rowland Pugh discovered the mother lode of copper. Pugh was rewarded by the owners with a bottle of brandy a year and a rent free house for the rest of his life. For over 50 years Parys Mountain (Mynydd Parys) dominated the trade in copper worldwide.

The area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its unique mineralogy and mining history.

Visitors can explore the site on footpaths, including viewing the ruins of a windmill on the summit that was once used to pump water from the mines.

Anglesey is not as poor as politicians lead us to believe:
I fail to understand why politicians on Ynys Môn / Anglesey, both previous and current, keep claiming the island is "ravaged by poverty" 👇
