@wildlifeannie.bsky.socialwell that was a stroke of luck!! Went down the allotment🌞& started chatting to town council workers who'd been clearing another plot. Asked for help to shift my (v badly put together) raised bed & one man simply picked it up & helped me move it!!👍
#allotments #allotmenteers Leaving a square to clear
@magical-trevor1.bsky.socialNighttime temperatures are starting to get low (8° last night) so it is time to harvest the squash crop. The summer heatwaves ruined my potatoes but these guys will see us through the winter and more.

@jmagarrett.bsky.socialAn urban nature diary on shared allotment company, a wild red spirit 🦊
@kmarxette.bsky.socialI have an allotment (waited for 7 years). For a start, I can see that @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social isn't firm enough about rules and could pass a few misutilised plots to people on the waiting list. Also, why are bits of parks left unused for years? They could be transformed into #allotments.
@bosfonline.bsky.socialMarsh Hill Allotments Harvestfest is on Saturday 10th October, 11am - 3pm. Come along for homemade soups and breads, autumn produce judging and sustainable ideas for saving rainwater. Don't forget, the best pumpkin will win the Marsh Hill Cup! Everyone welcome 🍂 #Birmingham #Allotments
@banhampete.bsky.socialOctober 5th and the tomatoes keep coming.
@hdclump.comMost UK allotment sites have waiting lists, yet many new plot holders give up within a year. Exmouth's committee tackled this with smaller starter plots, a veg school, and a community polytunnel for teaching.
@wildlifeannie.bsky.socialYep devoting part of plot to wildlife!
That's me!
(Please tell my fellow allotmenteers")
@suecowley.bsky.socialThere's a plum tree on the plot next to mine, which my friend planted when we first got our plots, to commemorate a loss. She moved out of the village but I love to see it still flowering and fruiting. It's like the memories of the people who spent time on our #allotments are still there somehow. 🌱
@wildlifeannie.bsky.socialNo mention yet the dreaded flea beetles... They love brassicas too -
(Had mine quite early on...)
Praps "Nows the time" as Frances said for me to try again...
@suecowley.bsky.socialThe funniest thing about our #allotments is how villagers come and go but then come back. We've got four of the original plot holders from 2009 (including me). Two people who started took a break and then came back. There's also a kid of one of the original plot holders who has joined us. Love it! 🌱
@wildlifeannie.bsky.socialJust the fruit n veg you enjoy! Yep - tatties n chard, rainbow chard
Could try:
Perennial kale
Sea beet - large leaves
Ooh and loganberries
@annettelawson.bsky.socialIsn’t this just wonderful? #GardenersWorld #Allotments
@timhopper.bsky.socialHow my friend's little allotment looked on arrival yesterday. I'm going to have to take my electric strimmer down next time I go 🙂 Hopefully tomorrow 🤞 #allotmentgardening #allotments #gardening | #kent #england

@jab-1958.bsky.socialHard life being an allotment cat 😂
@royandtanyaorganic.bsky.socialCeleriac 🌱 seem to be going backwards again, such a difficult vegetable to grow for most of us. #allotments
Refuse to give in.

@timhopper.bsky.socialDefinitely autumn now (Meteorological, if not astronomical.) The big pond at the allotments viewed both ways from midway across the wooden footbridge 😍 #naturephotography #landscapephotography #allotments | #kent #england
@timhopper.bsky.socialEven down at the allotments I couldn't escape the noise of the town's annual hop festival 😭 They do though stop the outdoor music at 6pm, which gives us quieter-loving folk something to look forward to! 😁 #allotments #allotmentgardening #gardening | #kent #england
