Round 9 #AFLW #AFL scoring update:

We're so back.

Geelong are just absurd this season - when you consider that a men's game is roughly 50% longer than a women's game once you include extra time (~84 mins vs 126 mins from what i could gather), they're scoring at similar rates to the Lions men!

A spreadsheet showing scoring trends across AFLW seasons. It shows a significant increase in average team scores in 2026, with all bar one round so far seeing an average score of 40+ and 6 out of 9 an average of 45+. A spreadsheet showing average points per game for men's and women's AFL teams. The women's results have been multiplied by 1.5 to represent the difference in game length, which really showcases how much the Geelong women's team are on another level offensively this season, as they have the second highest average points per game of any team this seasom behind only the Sydney men.
