If anyone is going to TPAC, there is a session on extending ActivityPub to accommodate private groups https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/e94352d9-97c8-40ac-8518-535431f6b0b2/

Raise your hand if #ActivityPub is your favorite standard 👋

Two years ago I asked the #Plone community if @plone had a plan for #ActivityPub and the #Fediverse. Now, things are moving 🙂

I am really curious about LittleFedi 🤔

Dear #AskFedi, #activitypub edition,

is there a Linux AP client for devs, that would allow shenanigans like HTTP!S and non-443 ports?

The few I've grabbed from Flatpak balk when I try to enforce both of the things above.

Kind of a broad #ActivityPub question, for platforms implementing groups in the #Fediverse

We see maybe 2 or 3 different use-cases for how groups are leveraged in the Fediverse today:

1. Traditional Discussion Groups: Lemmy-style communities, NodeBB forum categories, basically a moderated […]

From #Indymedia and the early #openweb to #ActivityPub and #OMN, my work links the history of grassroots tech to the future we need to build.

One big part of #OMN is slowing the tech churn and bringing the #fashionista path back into balance.

We already have a huge pile of #techshit to compost […]

We have a churning problem in #alttech.

#ActivityPub grew from #PubSubHubbub, built on #AtomPub, built on #RSS - roots in the high tide of the #openweb. Since then, progressive tech has churned sideways, while people drifted to the #dotcons and we ended up in this #techshit heap.

I think I would love to have a ActivityPub based Pinterest??!

Like being able to see things from specific networks.. No slop instances..

In the end it is kind of already there with pixelfed, but it comes down to a how it is presented.

In #ActivityPub governance, we have a problem: #NGO mainstreaming careerism on one side, #geekproblem grassroots careerism on the other. Different paths, same trap: protecting positions and control rather than building grassroots alternatives. These are friendly enemies of the #openweb.

To help with their Forkiverse experiment, the Search Engine/Hard Fork teams talked to two experts: @evan and @jaz. Listen to @mike's chats with them here:

At the beginning of this year, @kevin, @caseynewton and @pj launched a fediverse instance, The Forkiverse. Now, they're shutting it down. Here's PJ's conversation with @mike for #DotSocial about the experiment.

I've been really struggling to maintain a happy #social life, not just real-world but the virtual one too. I loath the mainstream #socialmedia platforms full of doom-for-likes-merchants. I've really got to play more with the federated #activitypub system, it seems somehow more sane? I just […]
