"Instead of praise,
Near-sighted autocrats
Judge according to optics,
Urge us to see all sides.
Righteously indignant,
Yet indifferent to suffering."

Light centers on
A solitary candle
Near the window
Terrible shadows
Ever surround it
Right at its heart
No harm will find it

Blooming visions
Eyes reading futures
Looking beyond today
Interpreting obscure signs
Enigmatic predictions
Veiling fate's path
Ever seeking answers

You can only watch the sun explode so many times.
After a while, even catastrophe gets repetitive.
We've started calling it what it is.
Nothing but another Tuesday.

You have told me to write a short verse;
An #acrostic, which makes matters worse.
Waking up to this task
Not refreshed, I must ask:
Stop sadistic demands. They're a curse!

Deciphering the spelling of a word
Ends up hard if someone’s language is slurred
Loudly calling out
The letters no doubt
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta are heard

And try to resist
Whoops!
Now you do it as well.

I was nearly asleep
now comes a remark
spoken fifteen years ago
of no importance to anyone
my mind has brought witnesses
no one may leave
I request a recess
apparently we are just beginning
