There are very few memories that last a life time; sadly, abuse is one. Sometimes the memory is so horrific that it requires the victim to forget entire years of their life just to keep that memory from incapacitating them.

If you want to figure out who the bully is and who the victim is, notice who stands alone. The victim is frequently isolated, whereas the bully is backed by a crowd that laughs and enables it.

Being a burned out caretaker/parent doesn’t excuse abuse. I refuse to accept the normalization of using/abusing a vulnerable dependent to self-regulate because the caretaker is struggling.
